Alfred picspam and videospam
(crossposted to magyar_musicals)
I posted this pic- and videospam of my favourite Hungarian Alfreds in my journal this summer, but this is a somewhat updated version (with some newer videos and a couple of new pics) which I wanted to also post in public communities to spread the love.

I think Alfred in Tanz der Vampire is a totally adorable and underappreciated character and more people need to pay attention to how wonderful he is, so I'm spamming you with pics and videos from my three favourite Hungarian Alfreds: Sánta László, Mihálka Gyuri and Pásztor Ádám. They are the ones I've seen live and loved very much, and more people need to know them and see how lovely Alfred can be. Some other people also appear in the pics and videos, especially Pirgel Dávid, Andrádi Zsanett and Stróbel Dóra.

First, Sánta László, the adorable and wonderful first cast Alfred:

With Sarah (Andrádi Zsanett):

(This pic just has to be posted because... well, because)

(He's just lovely here.)

With the Professor:

With Herbert (Pirgel Dávid)

(I love Dávid's expression in this one)

And oh, this is priceless. Alfred doesn't look too scared here, now does he? *g*

This is just cute...

And a couple of videos:

Für Sarah in a TV programme performance (it cuts off a few seconds before the end, which is annoying, but it's a lovely performance - though it's two years old and his voice is much better nowadays)

Here's another performance, from a concert:

Wenn Liebe in dir ist, with Pirgel Dávid

The same scene with Kamarás Máté, because I want to show something newer from László - this is from January 2008, I think:

And then, the adorable, young and talented Mihálka György, usually called Gyuri.

With Sarah (I think it's Nádorfi Krisztina)

With Sarah (Andrádi Zsanett)

With Herbert (Kamarás Máté)

Just a random Gyuri-posing-in-costume pic

And then videos again:

From this summer, Draussen ist Freiheit with Stróbel Dóra, followed by Die Roten Stiefel/Stärker als wir sind

Für Sarah in one of his first performances last year - isn't the boy's voice fantastic? He's 19 here.

And the same song in a concert a few months later, just to demonstrate the point that Gyuri can sing better than any Alfred I've heard anywhere, or most other people I've heard either. By this, he'd turned 20.

Wenn Liebe in dir ist, with Posta Victor as Herbert (Here's an amusing little mishap as he drops the book when Herbert gives it back to him... And he sensibly doesn't stoop to pick it up, because the "mirror-Alfred" wouldn't know to do that. It seems from my experiences Gyuri is generally given to prop mishaps, poor boy...)

The same scene from a promotional concert, with Pirgel Dávid. If you ask me, the scene should end like this more often. ;-)

If you want a better picture quality for that (though not better sound quality) check out this video, where it's preceded by Zsanett and Bot Gábor's Totale Finsternis.

And the newest Hungarian Alfred: Pásztor Ádám, another young-and-talented Alfred wonder boy. Though he doesn't look quite like I picture Alfred - he looks more like a pretty-and-corruptible boy-schooler than Alfred, I think. But his acting is great and well, he's certainly not hard on the eyes.

(I just think the contrast between Alfred's dreamy face and Koukol on the background is amusing)

Told you that fangs look good on him.

With Sarah (Stróbel Dóra)

Just because it's a fantastic biting-in-action pic:

With the Professor:

With Herbert (Pirgel Dávid):

And finally... the only thing better than a cute young talented Alfred is two cute young talented Alfreds. (L-R Ádám and Gyuri, from a programme signing event at the theatre this September)

This is the only video of Ádám's Alfred so far, from a promotional concert: Draussen ist Freiheit with Andrádi Zsanett's Sarah, followed by Die Roten Stiefel/Stärker als wir sind.

and just to show how smart and awesome my daughter K* is, this conversation happened as we scrolled through pictures:

K: Vampire! (which is code for anything Tanz related, obvs.)
me: yep
K: Alfred?
me: sure is.
K: Sarah!!
me: you're right.
K: Vlad! (which, to her, is the Count)
Me: everybody, huh?
K: More vampire, please.

So now we're watching the videos. Which are awesome. :-)

*she's three.

Her excellent taste keeps amazing me time after time. :D She's like the child prodigy in vampirology or something.

Thanks to valancystar for the spam! I'm getting really eager to see Gyuri as Alfred, I think he might make me see the awesomeness of the character.

I know right? seriously, she hums along with the overture now. And sing the first few bars of Sarah's bathtub song and she'll come bouncing in looking for the video. And lord help you if you just put the audio in.

someday, I swear. Someday we will be over there to see this.
Valancy: Alfred Gyurivalancystar on November 8th, 2009 03:49 pm (UTC)
You're welcome! I love all these three equally, but Gyuri is a particularly easy one to adore, I think. He's so young and sweet and bouncy and just the definition of adorable, and the voice is amazing like whoah.
Skazkasupercrook on November 6th, 2009 09:59 pm (UTC)
I feel like I'm intruding by commenting on this, but that is insanely cute! She sounds like a sweetie.

(For the OP, these pics are lovely. I kind of want to make an icon out of the one with Maté!Herbert, and oh my gosh, it's like a buffet of Alfred-squee here.)
angely78: tanzangely78 on November 6th, 2009 10:08 pm (UTC)
intrude all you want, I'm kinda proud of my Tanz loving kid. Who insisted on being a vampire for halloween and went around telling everyone that with her swooshy cloak she was just like the Count. Very proud of herself.

and isn't Alfred adorable? I just want to cuddle him and make him cocoa.
Skazkasupercrook on November 7th, 2009 12:01 am (UTC)
That's even cuter! Wow, that's sweet and impressive. What a cool little girl. And I was proud of my little brother just for knowing who David Bowie was.

I'm so struck by how actually young all these actors look! Very adorable. And the character just needs some serious cuddling, poor dear. And the curly hair~
angely78: tanzangely78 on November 7th, 2009 12:21 am (UTC)
I continue to be amazed by my kid, daily (who like Labyrinth too, btw). I discovered TdV in May due to a friend and K fell curls-over-toes in love with the music. have a video on youtube of her singing along with Totale Finsternis, to the best of her ability, in German. Boggles the mind.

I think what strikes me is those rosy cheek sh that beg to be pinched. And I'm not a cheek pincher as a rule. Even as a vampire he's too cute for words. Lol.
Skazkasupercrook on November 7th, 2009 12:54 am (UTC)
I feel like I'm repeating myself, but really that's painfully cute. What a smart little girl, too, and she has excellent taste.

He just looks so innocent, and it's nice for me since I'm used to looking at pics of Herbert's various actors in stage makeup. He's all rosy and very young and adorable.
angely78angely78 on November 7th, 2009 02:12 am (UTC)
heh, you should see my journal. The cuteness happens daily. Lecturing Sarah about disobeying her papa is my most recent favorite....

Herbert's adorable too (good lord, Mate. Yum) but there's just something about Alfred. Sometimes it makes me what to box Sarah's ears for toying with him, because honestly no one can convince me that she did not know what she was doing with the sponge. Truly. Come on.
Skazkasupercrook on November 7th, 2009 02:27 am (UTC)
Awwww. Really, aww. That's super-sweet. I think the most mileage I ever got out of my brother's David Bowie recognition was the occasional debate about whether I was young enough for the Goblin King to still grant me special powers...

I love the various Sarahs in these pics, too; sometimes I feel odd for liking the three of them pretty much equally. (Though my tendency to roleplay and write for Herbert means he gets more attention than they do, poor dears.) But there's a reason why that's called the Ho Sponge in my teeny-tiny sector of fandom.

(I'm kind of curious about friending you now, though I know it's kind of forward. May I?)
angely78: AngelicaVeniceangely78 on November 7th, 2009 02:39 am (UTC)
I used to write for a Labyrinth fanfic list; Jareth knows my daughter fairly well, as he was one of the first of the voices in my head to get informed of her impending arrival. He was shocked, then intrigued, then cautiously optimistic. Second generation = more fans.

Confession time: after your last post I stalked your info page, part of your journal, and your deviantart page to find out a little about you before the friending question came up. And have decided that any friend of Herbert and the whole crazy Krolock family is a friend of ours. Be warned: I'm a rapid writer that has been dragged in fang first head-first into a two epic novels, one of which stars a OC vampire named Angelica who has quite literally taken over my head. (thats her in my icon) Among other weirdnesses. But yes. Permission granted, friend away. :)
Skazkasupercrook on November 7th, 2009 02:49 am (UTC)
I'm always glad to meet more Labyrinth fans; I'm utterly new to the fandom. And that's rather sweet. ^^

(My brother's also been transformed into something of a Trekkie as well. Not my doing, I promise.)

It's quite all right! I popped over to your profile before asking the question, just to take a look around. (I'm transitioning most of my fic stuff over to Dreamwidth, though, I'll warn you-- username Skazka-- for the sake of Yuletide Treasure this year.) And I'm always glad to meet another writer, though I'll confess I don't write well, and never anything so unified as a novel. But that sounds awesome. Lovely icon, too.

I shall be off to do so promptly!
angely78angely78 on November 8th, 2009 02:54 am (UTC)
Yay new friends. :-)
Valancy: Alfred spongevalancystar on November 8th, 2009 03:56 pm (UTC)
But there's a reason why that's called the Ho Sponge in my teeny-tiny sector of fandom.

You know, a lot of the time I'm really jealous of the sponge. It gets loving attention from Sarah, Alfred and Krolock - what more could you ask for?

Those Sarahs are totally fantastic. Zsanett's probably my favourite ever, she's got a totally awesome interpretation and I love her singing and looks, too. Dóra was great and interesting, too. I've only seen Krisztina once and I wasn't as impressed with her as with the others, but she was fine, too. These pictures don't show Lotti, whom I also like a lot. But Zsanett's my greatest favourite.
Skazkasupercrook on November 8th, 2009 06:47 pm (UTC)
That sponge gets around. Best prop ever! (And in that picture in your icon, really, *oof*. Lucky sponge.)

I really need to listen to more of these casts. I've got a very defined favorite set of Herberts, but I never paid enough attention to who was playing Sarah. And I'm so used to listening that I scarcely get to see who's who.
Valancy: Alfred spongevalancystar on November 9th, 2009 04:37 pm (UTC)
Oh, I know. Oh that I were a sponge in that hand, that I might touch that cheek! Hee.

Did you snatch the audios I gifted? These casts are seriously worth listening to. (Hopefully I'll be able to gift one with László, too, soon.) I'm so much in withdrawal from that show and that production already... Must go back...
Skazkasupercrook on November 9th, 2009 09:52 pm (UTC)
Ahaha~ And he looks so, um, *intent* in your icon too. Let the boy have his fun.

I think I may have downloaded one of them, but I'm having my school computer reimaged soon, so I haven't taken things out and listened to them yet. Thank you so much for all these gifts, though, they're lovely!
Valancy: Alfred spongevalancystar on November 10th, 2009 02:44 pm (UTC)
Hehe, I know. I *heart* Ádám as Alfred. Though he's lacking in the curly hair department, he's so very expressive, and his Alfred is extremely seducable. :D

Good, just checking that you haven't missed out on there being audios available. :D And if anything stops working, just ask me to gift them again.

Valancy: Alfred/Sarahvalancystar on November 8th, 2009 03:52 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I also really love how they actually feel and look young. Understandably: Gyuri is all of 20 years old and Ádám is just 19 - László is older (I think around 28, though probably about 26 the time the pics were taken) but he's got some sweet boyishness despite it.

I love Alfred to bits. He needs more love! Sarah's so unappreciative, dammit! I know the boy can't give her red boots and fancy midnight balls, but he's just so sweet and does his all for her... I'd totally have gone with him. :)
Skazkasupercrook on November 8th, 2009 06:46 pm (UTC)
Alfred is just a sugarpie. The Krolock family might be the ones you long for, but Alfred is so the one you marry. He's got that kind of sweet adventurousness about him that makes him the perfect Innocent Hero type. (Especially given how cute all these actors are!) Sarah's just too blinded by thoughts of adventure to see what's right in front of her, and really, I can't blame her for wanting adventure... but come on, woman, wake up! And look at his hair.

Valancy: Alfred/Sarahvalancystar on November 9th, 2009 04:43 pm (UTC)
I know! Dear gods, just send an Alfred my way, I promise I'll be so good and sweet to him and won't ditch him for the sake of red boots and adventure. *pets Alfred and makes him hot cocoa*

Can I friend you, perhaps? You seem cool and anyone who understands the value of Alfred is worth knowing. ;-)

Skazkasupercrook on November 9th, 2009 09:47 pm (UTC)
He's just got that deer-in-the-headlights cuteness, I don't see how anyone could resist... take good care of the boy! (And save some of that cocoa for me.)

I'd be thrilled if you would! I need more Tanz fans on my flist, and you seem awesome.
Valancy: Alfred Gyurivalancystar on November 10th, 2009 02:46 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I'm always puzzled by how anyone can resist the Alfred cuteness! Though a lot of the actors they cast in the role are... not really up to the task, so maybe that's one reason not everyone is seeing how wonderful he is. One of the reasons why I like to spam people with my favourites. :)

Friended! :)
Valancy: Alfred Gyurivalancystar on November 8th, 2009 03:48 pm (UTC)
That's just priceless. Your kid is awesome! If I get kids I'm clearly going to have to bring them up the way you do yours. :D

And I'm glad you're enjoying! Both of you. :D
angely78angely78 on November 8th, 2009 11:08 pm (UTC)
that's the second time i've heard that this week. Awesomesauce.

The cuteness of Alfred: now with twice the friendship creating power! lol
Valancy: Alfred/Sarahvalancystar on November 9th, 2009 04:38 pm (UTC)
*grins* Speaking of that, can I friend you? You seem worth getting to know. And then you can read all my reviews - uncensored! :D
angely78: tanzangely78 on November 9th, 2009 05:36 pm (UTC)
LOL, was wondering when you would ask that. Sure, go ahead! I'm nuts, of course... as already stated... but as long as you can handle conversations with me that often get sabotaged by the voices in my head, then we're all good. :-)
Valancy: Alfred Gyurivalancystar on November 9th, 2009 08:00 pm (UTC)
Hehe, I actually suck at friending people. I just tend to hang around and wait for them to friend me first. I'm kind of lazy and slightly shy about putting myself forward. So consider yourself getting special treatment. ;-)
angely78angely78 on November 9th, 2009 08:05 pm (UTC)
Well then, consider yourself friended and welcome. :-)
